Melé Bruniard

She was born in 1930, in Reconquista, Santa Fe, Argentina. She died in 2020 in Rosario.

She was a professor of Drawing and Painting, graduated from the Superior School of Fine Arts in Rosario. During 1952 and 1953 she attended Juan Grela’s workshop, where she began to work with different types of engravings in wood and metal.

Her work was displayed in group and solo exhibitions, such as ‘Intérprete de la xilografía’ in Castagnino Fine Arts Museum (2012) and ‘Dibujos’ in Diego Obligado Art Gallery (2015).

She received prizes from many salons, and the well-deserved national recognition with the Trabucco Prize (2000).

Apart from being one of Grela’s disciples, she is considered one of Argentina’s most significant xylography artists.
